to invest a lot of time on their studies and then spend many life hours working
in the field they picked. One of the major considerations to keep in mind is
how easily they will be able to find employment upon completion of their study.

already know they will be seeking employment in one of the fastest growing
industries in the world.
Working at a hotel is the favorite career which many people
want at this time. It is caused by the big income and its life style. Working
at the hotel is also a pride because it is the prestigious career. But nowadays,
there are many people who don’t have certain ability to work there.
As the new institution, Smart Hospitality Course offers a
course that focus on hospitality field. We hope we can help our students to
work at a hotel as they want successfully.
a) Profile
of Smart Hospitality Course
With the
student’s first visit to Smart Hospitality Course, students will notice
something special about us - something that sets us apart. Here, they will find
not only a very comfortable learning environment, but something more: a spirit
of warmth and friendliness, a positive attitude that is shared by everyone, a
sense of genuine caring and mutual respect between students, staff and
instructors alike.
Smart
Hospitality Course is the course that is established on 2011 under Indonesia
Department of Labor. We work closely with the two five star hotels in Surabaya (Hyatt Regency
and Sheraton) to ensure that our graduates have the skills and training
necessary for success in their chosen career path. We will give students an
opportunity to discuss their personal career goals and to learn more about the
opportunities that exist within the industry itself. Our instructors are
hospitality professionals and they are able to help answer any specific
employment questions that students may have.
We
understand the importance of finding the best educational environment for
students to pursue their career goals and we take pride in providing everyone
with the information required to make a well informed decision. The expert
training they need the personal attention they want, the truly enjoyable and
rewarding learning experience they deserve. It can make all the difference in
the world.
b) Methodology
Smart Hospitality Course
uses communicative approach in training the students. Since the goal of English
teaching activities is to have learners become communicatively competent based
on their specialist area (Hospitality), a communicative approach is applied. Therefore,
to implement such an approach, it is essential to design the materials related
to communicative purpose applied to classroom activities. In this course model
ESP materials that are discussed are Hospitality English, which focuses on a
speaking skill. In classroom activities, learners ought to be able to use the
language a great deal through communicative activities, such as role-plays,
games, and problem solving. These
activities can be implemented in pairs, triads, small groups, and whole groups.

Smart Hospitality Course is on Jalan
Cempaka 56, it is near with Hyatt Regency which is located in Jalan Basuki
Rahmad 106, or in front of our course. It also has good access to the main
street.

d) Placement
of the Students
We offer job placement assistance for all
students because we work closely with some hotel in Surabaya like Hyatt Regency and Sheraton.
Access to job placement assistance is available to all SHC students for
lifetime, our alumni graduates will be part of a vast network of industry
professionals who contact SHC to recruit new employees. All job postings are
available for student and alumni access through the SHC web site
hospitalitycourse.com.
B. Learners
Smart Hospitality Course’s receive 40 students at
intermediate level (20 students at morning class and 20 students at afternoon
class). Here are the criteria:
1. Graduating from Senior High School
or Vocational School.
2. Following the placement test to
ensure whether they can join the course or not.
3. The students should be physically
and phycology health
4. The students should be on the
following criteria:
a. Height
Man = minimal 165 cm
Woman = minimal 160 cm
b. Both of them should be maximal at
the twenty five years old.
C. Instructors
1) Kirill Rykov, MS, BA, PGD
Hospitality Instructor
Born in Russia, Kirill
left his country at age 12 to live in the United Kingdom. Later, he moved to Switzerland to
pursue his college education. Following completion of his studies in Switzerland and
having acquired his BA degree and Post-Graduate Diploma in Hospitality
Management, he held positions of increased importance in European, American and
Canadian businesses and educational institutions. He has spent the last 11
years in hospitality related fields (seven years in academic instruction) and
graduated with a M.S. degree in Economics in 2005.
2) Joanne Gallagher-Kurtzke, A.S.B.A.,.B.S.B.A., M.B.A
Hospitality Instructor
Joanne has spent her entire career in the Hospitality Industry and has
worked extensively leading large hospitality organizations throughout Europe, South American, Canada,
USA, Asia and the Caribbean. Formally trained in Business Management,
Joanne Graduated first from Quincy College with an Associate’s Degree in
Business Management and then from the prestigious Carroll School of Management
at Boston College, in Newton Mass., USA, with a Bachelors in Science, Business
Management. Recruited directly from Boston
College into the Hospitality Industry
Joanne began immediately working internationally with her first job posting
being London, England. She most recently obtained
her MBA from City University of Seattle and at this time is pursuing her
Doctorate in Business Administration.
3)
Dr. Hugh Brennan B.A., M.A.
He is an English teacher, "PEACE CORPS" Voluntary Service
Overseas, Govt. Mission Secondary
School, Papua New Guinea.
Duties & responsibilities included preparation of materials & teaching
of all Secondary School English Language Courses & training of local teachers.
He is also an English Instructor & Head of English Language
Department, International Laboratory College of Languages, Semarang
Indonesia.
Duties included creation of cassette & workbook English Language lessons
& teaching of special English classes (ESP) for government servants, bank
employees, hotel staff & individual home tutorials.
4)
Adiwarni, BA
This instructor got the
academic title BA from SHMS (Swiss Hotel
Management School). She
really loves the hospitality sector that can enhance the national economic
based on society.
5)
Mohammad Jamaludin, BA, MA.
He is an expert assistant
in SMK Perhotelan Cianjur. He also received academic
title BA from SMPT Yogyakarta and also received
academic title MA from SHMS (Swiss Hotel
Management School).

Lindan Ramly, BA
She has background of the study
of hospitality in Harvard hospitality department in US. She also has some
experience become staff at United
State in hospitality
field for five years.
